Botech ASCS
Advanced Signal Coordination System

Universal

Bridging the gap between incompatible hardware and jurisdictional boundaries. ASCS creates a unified logic layer to synchronize traffic flow across disjointed grids.

The Integration Challenge

A major corridor in Metro Vancouver faced severe gridlock due to two adjacent, high-volume intersections operating in total isolation. The challenge was not just traffic volume, but incompatible infrastructure.

Vendor Lock-in

The intersections utilized controllers from two different manufacturers with closed, proprietary protocols. Standard coordination cables could not be connected.

Jurisdictional Split

Owned by separate municipalities, the signals followed conflicting maintenance schedules and inventory specs, preventing a unified hardware upgrade.

Dynamic Load

Located near a freeway interchange, the flow involved heavy, unpredictable turning movements that static "Time of Day" plans could not resolve.

System Telemetry

Real-time signal state and coordination diagrams. ASCS allows for "Shadow Mode" monitoring where logic is validated against live traffic data before actuation is enabled.

The Botech Solution

Virtual Translation Layer

Our engineers developed a custom translation kernel—the core of ASCS—that reads signal status directly from the controller backplane. It normalizes disparate data formats into a single "Virtual Controller" state.

Adaptive Slaving Logic

The Minor Intersection reads the Major's state in real-time via our secure wireless link. It dynamically adjusts phase termination to flush queues exactly before the Major intersection releases its heavy flow.
